As a Mechanical Engineer in our Moncton office, you will work independently on small and average sized projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead project tasks and activities. Must be self-motivated, team oriented, efficient, and a good communicator. Be comfortable in a client-facing position and in the field. Strong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi-discipline team. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual (English and French) would be a major asset. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Intermediate or strong project management skills. Ability to follow Stantec's quality control guidelines. Understanding the importance of complying with Stantec's Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the field. Desire to be mentored by Senior staff and to adapt to feedback as required. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace & IES would be an asset. Requisite knowledge and application of the mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, controls), means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
A Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university. Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick. Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience is required. Experience creating tender document packages, including detailed drawings and specifications is required. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
