Job Description

Join Stantec as a Team Lead - Environmental Characterization and Remediation. The position is based at our office in Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec. Reporting to the Director of Operations (BCOL), you will be part of the management team of Environmental Services. You will use your leadership skills to guide and develop a highly competent and motivated team, while ensuring that projects meet and exceed our client's expectations. Main Responsibilities

In addition to managing geo-environmental projects, you will have the following responsibilities as a team lead:

  • Manage the resource allocation and professional development of Environmental Services team members working in your discipline.
  • Supervise junior team members and support their career development.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and communicate information.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety within the team.
  • Support the team in achieving billability targets.
  • Promote a culture of innovation within the team.
  • Inspire a culture of collaboration and knowledge transfer.
  • Attract, develop, coach, and retain high quality talent.
  • Conduct year-end performance appraisals of team members.

Participate in climate solutions projects and initiatives including:

  • Identifying risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Analyzing impacts on built and natural environments, and on communities.
  • Evaluating and prioritizing risks based on client criteria.
  • Recommending adaptation measures to reduce risks, including technical solutions, policies, regulations, standards, operational procedures, and emergency plans.
  • Developing adaptation plans.
  • Being a reference in climate solutions for colleagues in the Climate Solutions team and providing support in all areas of Stantec (environment, urban planning, buildings, transport, energy and resources, infrastructure, and water).
  • Preparing effective technical proposals and leading business development and client relations.

Your Background

Your experience includes:

  • At least 15 years of experience in a field related to climate change.
  • Knowledge of climate change challenges in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel in Canada and abroad.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal) in French and English, strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and relationship skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, economics, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of tools and standards related to risk assessment, analysis, and management.
  • Knowledge of best practices in adaptation measures and their implementation.
  • Experience facilitating meetings with diverse participants.
  • Strategic thinking, negotiation, analysis, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
