We are recruiting for a Drainage Civil Engineer to be based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office. Do you have a passion for transport and the roads that link our cities? We are seeking a Drainage Civil Engineer with expertise in surface water drainage to join our growing Transport Infrastructure team in Scotland, delivering high-quality projects for both public and private sector clients.

Your Role:

• Leading and contributing to surface water drainage design across highways, active travel and development infrastructure projects
• Being hands-on with project delivery across the full lifecycle — from concept, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction support
• Acting as the key drainage contact on multi-disciplinary projects and prospective opportunities
• Supporting and collaborating with teams across the UK to deliver schemes for a wide range of clients
• Contributing to developing the drainage capability of the wider team by mentoring engineers, checking work, providing technical feedback and promoting best practice

About You:

• Experience in surface water drainage design for roads, active travel schemes and development infrastructure
• A proven track record of delivering multi-disciplinary projects across all project stages
• Strong working knowledge of DMRB, local road and water authority standards, CDM and BIM
• Experience using Autodesk InfoDrainage and Civil 3D
• An excellent communicator, internally and externally
• Detail-oriented yet pragmatic in your approach
• Enthusiastic, ambitious and forward-thinking
• Committed to continuous professional development and staying up to date with evolving industry standards
• You will use your experience to mentor and support other civil engineers through on-the-job training, technical reviews and knowledge sharing, helping to strengthen the capability of the wider team

Qualifications:

• You will hold a degree in Civil Engineering and be working towards Chartered status
