As a Civil Engineer with a Structural Emphasis, your role is to work with general supervision and direction on multiple projects, and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. You will perform or develop structural evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings, recommendations, and specifications for engineered systems or products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
General knowledge of structural design codes and standards (CBC/IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360), and the application of these provisions. General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. General knowledge of structural mechanics and principles, structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. Effective oral and written communication skills. Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCad, and the ability to produce models or drawings or to develop clear, effective markups for a designer to incorporate. Experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering required; master’s degree preferred. California licensed Professional Civil Engineer required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
This position requires full-time, in-person attendance at our Sacramento C Street office location for an initial on-boarding/training period (minimum of 6 months). Transition to a hybrid working environment, if considered, is subject to Stantec’s workplace attendance policies and supervisor discretion. Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
