Your opportunity as a Civil Engineer in Training in our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout the Midwest, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects from the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, pipelines, tunnels, renewable energy projects and related infrastructure projects. This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.

Your key responsibilities include performing civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer; working with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project; performing field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager; performing data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components; collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions; interpreting and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices; analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness; communicating professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors; and performing other duties as assigned.
Your capabilities and credentials include seeking a motivated individual who is enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized, and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills; basic understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design; ability and interest in working on a variety of renewables (solar, wind, etc.) type of projects for various clients; desire to work on projects with a focus on sustainability and green infrastructure; ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought; ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and other similar materials; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction; strong interest in community development engineering disciplines; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D; and must have a good driving record, and valid driver's license.
Education and experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred. Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.
Pay range: Locations in MN, VT, & various CA, NY areas - Min Salary $67,800.00 - Max Salary $94,900.00. Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas - Min Salary $74,600.00 - Max Salary $104,400.00. Pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
