About this Role

As a Data Engineer at Stake you will design, build, and maintain a robust and scalable data infrastructure to support the Stake data ecosystem, ensuring data quality, reliability, and accessibility. In collaboration with technical and non-technical peers you will define and implement best practices for data infrastructure and productionization, establishing a foundation for efficient and reliable data-driven solutions. Primary responsibilities

Strategy and Roadmap

• Implement new technologies and design patterns to optimize the Stake data ecosystem.
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using 'big data' technologies.
• Architect and implement scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Adapt data storage solutions to meet performance, security, and compliance requirements of given use cases
• Build and maintain efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes.
• Develop and manage data infrastructure orchestration tools and workflows.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure governance, data integrity and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues promptly.
• Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems for data infrastructure health and performance.

Research and Scope

• Collaborate on cross-functional projects working closely with senior engineers.
• Collaborate effectively with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering.
• Develop dashboards and reports to track data quality metrics and operational SLAs
• Enforce across the business robust data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security, including the protection of PII.
• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in data systems.

Product Planning

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to think critically, anticipate challenges, and propose innovative solutions.
• Gain exposure and participate in defining data requirements and monitoring their progress throughout the development cycle to understand Stake's standards.
• Participate in data planning and prioritization meetings and document data requirements.

Project Management

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Document all milestones and manage identified project milestones, tasks, and dependencies required to deliver data projects; update this plan as things change.
• Provide timely updates to team members and stakeholders through frequent verbal and written updates, such as daily stand-ups and status report documentation.
• Contribute to rigorous peer reviews and manage your work to accommodate feedback and revisions

Commercial Leadership

• Anticipates future data needs and trends, advocating for the adoption of new technologies or methodologies to stay ahead of the curve
• Designs scalable, reliable, and cost-effective data architectures that align with business requirements
• Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including business leaders, IT teams, and data consumers
• Communicates complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring the message to the specific audience.

A Bit About You

Generally, a Data Engineer at Stake will have 3+ years of relevant experience and outstanding performance in a data driven role or have been promoted internally from a similar data position, such as an infrastructure role or an analytics engineering role. They have a proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions in production environments. They proved experience in data processing frameworks, cloud platforms and a strong understanding of data warehousing. Technical Skills

• Experience in data technologies relevant for data infrastructure, preferably on GCP such as Bigquery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow
• Strong proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages.
• Cloud Platform experience (AWS, Azure, preferably GCP)
• Working knowledge of a programming language, preferably Python
• Experience with data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
• Understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of Reporting\Visualization tools, preferably Metabase
• Stay up-to-date with the latest changes in the GCP environment, including the latest on trends such as AI
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (ideal, not essential)
