Job Summary:

Provides oversight at the direction of leadership on site to coordinate activities of employees engaged in all aspects of the operations. With collaboration of leadership ensures the needs of the patients, customers, and visitors are met from a food and service perspective. May participate in budgets, work plans, and staffing initiatives to effectively supervise the department.

Job Responsibilities And Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Recruits, interviews, promotes, disciplines, and terminates staff. Sets performance standards and goals for direct reports and the department. Evaluates and counsels staff on their performance. Monitors workload statistics to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Provides for the education needs of the staff.
  2. Collaborates with leadership in the development, interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures. Ensures policies and procedures are reviewed and updated on a regular basis to maintain compliance with any changes to federal, state, local, or other regulatory requirements.
  3. Directs the daily operations of the department, including but not limited to menu planning, purchasing, ordering, inventory and preparation to ensure staff has the appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform job duties. Establishes operating standards to implement quality improvements and communicates to both staff and ministry leadership.
  4. Assists to maintain cash controls and payroll functions for the department.
  5. Adheres to HACCP guidelines and complies with all safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  6. Monitors and assures food that is served meets quality, taste, presentation and portion standards. Makes adjustments and coaches staff as needed.
  7. Prepares and distributes work schedules and task assignments for assigned group. Evaluates requests for time off and schedule changes and approves or declines following policy. Works with department leadership to ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet needs. Coordinates changes to schedules due to sick calls, leave of absence or other emergent changes in staff availability or work volume. Advises supervisor of any potential policy violations related to attendance or schedules.
  8. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

Experience:

  • Two years' experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching and gripping.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent use of smell and taste to distinguish differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors, or recognizing particular flavors and/or odors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional driving.

Required Professional License And/Or Certifications:

  • State of Work Location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification - National Restaurant Association
