Software Engineer, Frontend - Core Web Platform
Squarespace is looking for a Software Engineer on the Core Web Platform team within the Building Blocks Platform Group. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to design our web performance platform, ensuring adherence to Core Web standards. You will focus on developing foundational features that guarantee our components meet the highest standards of accessibility, speed, efficiency, and reliability. You will help enhance user experience and empowering teams to build scalable, and maintainable digital products at scale. You will report to an Engineering Team Manager and will work from our headquarters in NYC (hybrid 2-3 days per week in office).

- Contribute to Platform Development: Help create web solutions, including the Optimization Platform.
- Help with Audits: Participate in performance audits for products and components, helping identify improvements and ensuring compliance.
- Build Foundational Tools: Design platform features, and APIs that support web performance, including primary components for the Optimization Platform.
- Support Best Practices: Help product teams implement performance best practices, following technical guidance.
- Automate Quality: Help implement automated performance testing in CI/CD pipelines.
- Optimize Performance: Troubleshoot and resolve web performance issues under guidance.
- Contribute to Architecture: Participate in technical discussions and contribute to the direction of the Core Web Platform.
Who We're Looking For
- Experience: 3-5 years in full stack software development, with a focus on platform solutions.
- Technical Expertise: Understanding of web performance standards, proficient in modern programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java) and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js), with an understanding of both front-end and back-end development.
- Platform Design: Experience designing scalable and performant full stack platforms.
- Tools: Experience with performance profiling/monitoring tools (e.g., WebPageTest, Lighthouse), Real User Monitoring (RUM) platforms, and optimization tools.
- Web Fundamentals: In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM, browser internals, and HTTP protocols.
- CI/CD: Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud & Modern Stacks: Experience with GCP or other cloud platforms is desirable.

Cash Compensation Range: $110,500 - $178,250 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
