Manager, Field Operations
Spire is seeking Manager of Field Operations to work in St. Louis, MO. This position will be responsible for assisting the Directors of Field Operations in overseeing and coordinating various field operations work including construction, maintenance, pipeline, service, operational training when required, and assisting the management administration of company policy, procedures, and coordinating the daily operation of the region.

Duties and responsibilities include:
- Provides oversight of customer requested and required work performed in accordance with Spire’s standards.
- Leads, inspires and empowers team members to reach their full potential by fostering a supportive environment, providing clear direction, and encouraging continuous growth and development.
- Protects Spire’s interests by ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Spire’s standard operating procedures and meet all regulatory requirements.
- Tracks the safety record of the department including injuries, first aid reports, motor vehicle and equipment incidents, and all other safety issues and leads team members to ensure all employees work safely to prevent or eliminate incidents.
- Provides direction and accountability to assigned employees who are implementing and accomplishing the department’s business plan and ensuring continuous improvement of business processes.
- Initiates, plans, and coordinates the training programs with the Training Department.
- Evaluates the region’s productivity levels and oversees efforts to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime.
- Functions as a liaison with various municipal organizations, fire departments, police departments, realtor organizations, and code enforcement officials.
- Maintains a working knowledge of various federal, state and local regulatory agencies, regulations and compliance requirements to ensure continual company compliance, is an advocate for damage prevention and distribution system integrity.
- Reviews and approves various documents, such as personnel requisitions, accident reports, safety meeting reports, invoices, etc.
- Maintains regular and frequent availability in all MOE territories to direct, assist in, or review the operation of the department’s daily routine and urgent or emergency activities.
- Secures information for and prepares periodic required reports and records.
- Works with employees from Labor Relations to avoid and/or resolve grievances with collective bargaining employees.
- Directs management and union employees in after-hours and weekend operations.
- Represents and maintains an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
- Works with Field Operations Directors to develop cohesive long-term, strategic plans to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives and goals.
- All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities include:
- Responsible for direct management of multiple supervisors and up to 150-250 union and contract employees in conducting safe, highest quality, and compliant installation.
- It is the responsibility of the Administrator to support and develop their management team in order to improve their level of leadership skills to ensure the safe operation of the distribution system and to continually improve the level of customer service that we provide.
- Responsible for continually motivating the members of the team to improve the level of safety awareness to achieve success with all the business unit and corporate safety goals and initiatives.

Required education (certifications, licenses) includes:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
- Valid Missouri Class F License or the issuing state’s equivalent and the ability to drive safely and accident free.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:
- Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience in environments with enforced safety protocols.
- At least 3 years of experience in utilities, construction, or a related field.
- Proven track record managing medium to large scale utility, construction, or related projects.
- Strong proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and cost control practices.
- Experience working in a unionized environment with a solid understanding of collective bargaining agreements (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Operational Qualification (OQ) assessments, OSHA standards, and HR/personnel procedures (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, MS Teams and other business software applications is required.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and establish rapport with a diverse array of people.
Physical demands, environment and schedule include:
- A mix of normal office conditions, outdoors exposed to all weather conditions, in construction areas with uneven surfaces and in areas exposed to loud audible noises.
