Sales Engineer

Drive profitable sales growth in Process Industry (Industrial, Food & Beverage and Waste & Water Environment) sector of Japan aligned with the Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions strategy and the Spirax Group core values. Achieve the above through collaboration with the Japan Process Industry team and Leader and North East Asia (NEA: Japan +Korea + Taiwan) Process Industry Sales Manager.

You will collaborate with your manager, team members, sales support, and application engineers to achieve individual, team, and company-wide sales/profit goals. You should understand the market in your area of responsibility and drive the business according to WMFTS Policies. You will contact your customers (end users, resellers, general contractors, etc.), understand their needs and challenges, and post discussion with internal team members provide solution through our products and aim to achieve sales target. You should actively create new business opportunities by creating new customer base and nurture existing customers and build lasting customer relationships. Ensure regional customer needs are understood and met, growth opportunities identified and the WMFTS Customer Value Propositions are appropriately presented. Provide orders and sales forecast updates and business reporting on performance compared to Plan and prior year, as required. You need to undergo necessary training provided by the company and acquire product knowledge. In addition to the training given, you should take an active interest in the product and aim to continuously acquire product knowledge on your own. You should synergize with other departments to progress in a better direction.

The Process Industry Sales Engineer reports to Japan Process Industry, Industrial Sector Leader, and reports the weekly forecast, including progress against the planned Key Actions. Monthly and quarterly, the Process Industry Sales of Japan presents to the Japan Process Industry Leader or North East Asia (Japan +Korea + Taiwan) Process Industry Manager a full YTD (Year To Date) report on the existing sales compared to plan and forecast for the balance of the year, including progress against planned Key Actions.

Interpersonal Interaction Requirements Those who are willing to actively communicate with domestic and foreign stakeholders.

Education and experience requirements Experience in solution sales (preferred direct sales). Experience working with customers to solve their problems. Sales experience at an industrial equipment manufacturer (end user, dealer). Experience in developing new customers and nurturing existing customers. Process & detail oriented, who can manage, analyze, and act on his/her own (Plan Do Check Action/Horenso). Ability to create reports and analyze them (in Japanese, English). Proactive, with strong sense of personal achievement. People who value teamwork, who understand and respect our core values. Japanese: Native level, English: Those who can communicate in English via email and F2F communication (if possible).

Computer competencies required for this position. Computer literate, able to create correspondence in Word. Able to produce and/or adapt PowerPoint presentations. Able to use Excel/Access to analyse, collate, and present data. Able to use Outlook for e-mail and appointment tracking purposes. Has knowledge of and some experience working with a CRM (customer relation management system). Must continue to grow with existing technology in an effort to become increasingly efficient. Ability and willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis and sometime international, as required. Possession of a driver's license.
