Job Description

This role is responsible for leading cloud operations and engineering initiatives across Azure environments, with a strong focus on automation, AI integration, and operational excellence. The Cloud Ops Engineer will own the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of scalable cloud solutions, while driving proactive problem resolution and mentoring team members. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise and leadership to ensure reliable, efficient, and forward-thinking cloud operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution design and implementation aligned to business requirements, ensuring quality delivery and accurate effort estimation
• Proactively identify operational challenges, drive root cause analysis, and resolve complex application and infrastructure issues end-to-end
• Mentor and upskill team members, sharing knowledge across cloud, AI/ML, and Windows platforms
• Drive continuous improvement through automation and the adoption of AI-assisted solutions in workflows and operations
• Evaluate and integrate Azure AI and ML capabilities (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Copilot) into cloud operations
• Manage and prioritize work within an agile environment, balancing incidents, infrastructure tasks, and delivery commitments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between engineering, business, and operational goals
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders
• Contribute to cost optimization, access management, and governance across Azure environments
• Support DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure management, and system reliability

About You

• 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, VMs, Azure Monitor)
• Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Shell, or Python)
• Experience with SQL and data querying (T-SQL, Azure SQL); familiarity with analytics tools such as Power BI is a plus
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI / Cognitive Services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, AI Search, ML Studio) and applying AI to operational workflows
• Experience with Azure DevOps (pipelines, agents, access management)
• Strong understanding of cloud administration, cost management, and access/governance models
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams and driving delivery outcomes
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders
• Nice to have: Experience with Azure AI Foundry, LLM integrations, Docker/Kubernetes (AKS), and container-based workloads
