Entry-Level Multidisciplinary Systems Engineer

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Multidisciplinary Systems Engineer to be part of our Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) team in the Strategic & Military Space Division. A successful candidate will work closely with the Program Manager and Lead Systems Engineer to support spacecraft programs beginning with AI&T planning through hardware build and test. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with a broad technical foundation across multiple engineering disciplines, strong analytical and communication skills, and a desire to contribute to team-based problem-solving in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

The Strategic & Military Space Division delivers advanced satellite and sensor systems that support the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Our division is a key component of national security, providing technological solutions and expert mission support. This position is in North Logan, UT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports Program Manager and Lead Systems Engineer in technical management of projects through tracking, risks, requirements, interfaces, configurations, and related tasks
  • Gathers system-level requirements, evaluates design alternatives, performs systems analysis, and decomposes solutions into actionable engineering tasks
  • Designs AI&T plans to meet program requirements
  • Manages and performs activities for the AI&T of space hardware across software, hardware, thermal, structural, optical, electrical, and related domains
  • Schedules and manages facilities, hardware resources, and personnel
  • Develops, maintains, and communicates regular program status reports for internal and external customers
  • Works closely with technical leads to successfully implement design objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance
  • BS in engineering or related science and 0-5 years of relevant experience or a MS and 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of multiple fields: mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, software, controls, astrodynamics, navigation, propulsion, or guidance
  • Knowledge of system engineering tools and analysis methods
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and within a team environment
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail while still having a system-level perspective
  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts when required for certain testing
  • Some travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Agile methodologies to define requirements and develop systems
  • Experience developing and using environment test processes (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, etc.)
  • Experience with optics system calibration and test
  • Previous experience leading space hardware AI&T efforts

*Salary Range

  • $67,500 - $92,000
  • Salary commensurate based on education and experience
