Software Quality Assurance Engineer

The team: Credit Analytics is on a mission to help customers make better credit decisions through high-quality analytics, workflows, and data-driven insights. We build and operate applications used in critical client workflows and continuously modernize our platforms to improve reliability, security, and delivery speed—especially as we expand integration across the broader ecosystem.

We are in an active modernization phase with major initiatives across CI/CD improvements and Git platform modernization (including GitHub migration), observability, security hygiene, and platform enablement.

Responsibilities and impact:

• Own and continuously improve the quality assurance strategy for high-impact Credit Analytics applications and services.
• Drive test automation initiatives, including framework design, maintenance, and integration into GitHub CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Perform advanced manual and exploratory testing of REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and web applications, identifying complex defects and edge cases.
• Partner closely with engineering, product, and architecture teams to understand system design, data flows, and technical trade-offs.
• Lead defect analysis and root-cause investigations, ensuring issues are clearly documented, prioritized, and resolved efficiently.
• Contribute to test planning, test design, and coverage strategy, ensuring quality is built into the development lifecycle.
• Act as a quality advocate, influencing best practices and raising the overall testing maturity of the organization.
• Support and mentor other SQAs by sharing knowledge, reviewing test approaches, and promoting consistent standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and uphold quality standards aligned with business and security expectations.

What we're looking for:

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in a Software Quality Assurance or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with manual testing of REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and web applications.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining automated test suites and integrating them into GitHub CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, test strategies, and quality engineering practices.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate risks and quality concerns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt in a complex environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative team environment.
• High attention to detail, critical thinking, and a proactive mindset toward quality improvement.

Preferred qualifications:

• Strong understanding of HTTP protocol, API design principles, and modern web application architectures.
• Practical experience with automated testing tools such as Cypress, Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), and Postman, along with Git-based workflows and common branching strategies.
• Familiarity with systems operating in cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and common services used for modern application deployment and operation.
• Experience influencing quality practices beyond individual test cases (e.g., testability, shift-left testing, CI/CD quality gates).
