The Senior Energy Engineer is responsible for leading energy engineering and analysis for energy retrofit and consulting projects across multiple customer classes and markets.
Utilizes comprehensive experience of building systems and operating sequences to assess energy efficiency, infrastructure, and resilience opportunities.
Provides energy evaluation/assessment for Energy Conservation Measures (ECM's) and coordinates with Project Developer and Solutions Executive throughout the project development process.
Supports and leads energy audits (Feasibility, Preliminary and Investment Grade) at more complex commercial & institutional facilities to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements.
Develops field measurement data plans and oversees collection of measurement data in support of energy project development using meters, loggers and other client-owned control and data systems.
Creates building energy simulations utilizing approved simulation programs such as Trane Trace, eQuest (DOE-2.2) and others, and evaluates modeled building performance to codes such as ASHRAE 90.1 or CA Title-24.
Utilizes Excel to perform energy analysis on Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and evaluates the operation of existing building systems; investigates and develops new analysis methodologies and approaches.
Interacts with internal and external design teams in performance-based new construction pursuits and generates energy documentation required to support LEED, Energy Star, EPACT 2006 and EISA 2007 project submission. Acts as energy lead in the LEED submission process.
Works with Southland clients to procure rebates and performance-based incentives associated with implemented ECMs.
Prepares financial models related to payment, which may include ROI, life cycle costing and internal rate of return and similar metrics from the client's perspective.
Supports development of client technical proposals, reports, ECM-specific RFPs as required.
Works closely with client facility staff to identify technical and operational problems, goals and opportunities.
