Director Of Student Services
The core mission of Southeastern College is to provide targeted educational services that meet community needs. The Student Services Department aids Southeastern College students in reaching their career goals by preparing students for their transition into the professional world. The Director of Student Services creates and fosters a sense of importance for the development of career skills necessary for students to achieve success in both the job search process and in their careers. To meet this end, the Director of Student Services must work to build and maintain relationships with employers and community leaders to enhance the opportunities for Southeastern College graduates.
The Director of Student Services is responsible for the delivery of career development programs and services designed to facilitate the successful placement of students into career positions. This is accomplished through:
- Creating and scheduling professional development workshops
- Coordinating and facilitating events, meetings, and student activities
- Conducting surveys of students, graduates, and employers

The Director of Student Services is responsible for overseeing the creation and distribution of student information. This includes:
- Managing the development of departmental monthly calendars
- Overseeing the creation of departmental semester newsletters
- Providing each student with a valid ID card
- Issuing student accidental insurance while on clinical/externship/fieldwork
The Director of Student Services is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local employers. This includes:
- Scheduling and facilitating local bi-annual Advisory Board meetings
- Holding membership in a minimum of two professional associations
- Attending professional association meetings to network for students and graduates
- Partnering with employers for resume referrals
- Conducting weekly off-campus employer visits
- Hosting employers on campus for recruiting events
- Compiling job leads and internship leads by program to show current demand in the market
- Compiling and maintaining placement statistics by program
- Gathering student and graduate success stories by program
- Gathering graduate and employer testimonials
The Director of Student Services is responsible for scheduling professional development workshops and events to further the learning and development of Southeastern College students. This includes:
- Teaching students skills in resume writing, job search strategies, and interviewing techniques
- Creating development workshops in the areas of financial management, interviewing, leadership, professionalism; resume writing, time management, study skills…
- Communicating with department leaders about the distribution and implementation of these programs within their curriculum
- Ensuring the workshop information is transmitted properly to the students
The Director of Student Services is responsible for coordinating and overseeing team and organizational meetings, departmental events, and student activities in order to provide a fruitful and resourceful network for students. This includes:
- Coordinating and facilitating commencement ceremonies annually
- Coordinating and facilitating monthly new student orientations
- Coordinating and facilitating job fairs annually
- Coordinating and facilitating cross functional team meetings monthly
- Participating, coordinating and/or facilitating graduate seminars monthly
- Participating, coordinating and/or facilitating student appreciation days each semester
- Participating, coordinating and/or facilitating student activities as necessary
- Coordinating grievance hearings and providing follow-up to affected parties
The Director of Student Services is responsible for placing and tracking students. This includes:
- Assisting students in finding career positions that match their Southeastern College training
- Maintaining the On-line Career Center
- Completing graduate exit interviews and graduate exit surveys monthly, as well as during their mandatory graduation seminar in their last semester
- Completing employer surveys quarterly
- Conducting surveys with employers three months after employment of a recent graduate
- Contacting and surveying alumni six months after graduation
- Eliciting feedback from students and alumni on the effectiveness of the Student Services Department, as well as areas of improvement and future programs/workshops/events that should be offered
- Creating and maintaining open communication policies with local groups, professional associations, employing organizations, current students, and alumni to further the development of a professional network to assist students in their job search and professional and career development
The Director of Student Services is responsible for compiling and maintaining student records. This includes:
- Maintaining accurate placement statistics on all graduates
- Maintaining accurate records on graduates and notifying all affected departments to ensure graduates are cleared of all obligations prior to graduation
The Director of Student Services is responsible for managing the performance of their staff. This includes:
- Motivating staff and reinforcing positive accomplishments
- Scheduling hours for staff
- Monitoring staff activities
- Providing coaching and training programs for staff development
- Conducting weekly staff meetings
The physical demands are those required in a typical professional office setting: communicating with coworkers and getting to and from appropriate on and off-campus appointments.

This position is an onsite position located at your campus unless otherwise determined by the Executive Director and/or designee. Any changes must be reviewed by the Campus and all final approvals must come from the Executive Director and/or designee.
The Director of Student Services is responsible for developing the career and professional skills of Southeastern College students as well as cultivating and maintaining a professional network within the community so as to assist students and graduates with job placement. The position entails overseeing the creation of career and professional development information and the dissemination of this information to students and graduates.

Education, Experience, and Training:
- The Director of Student Services oversees the creation and distribution of career development information and is responsible for managing a staff. The Director of Student Services should hold an Associate's degree or equivalent, and have at least two years of related experience - managerial experience strongly preferred.
