The Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader is responsible for the organization and performance of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position ensures that production departments are provided with processes that focus on safety, produce excellent quality products with a high first pass yield, meet customer demands and ensure lowest possible product costs while keeping scrap levels at or below budget. The Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader will develop and support CAPEX projects, develop Factory Roadmaps and create Tactical Implementation Plans (TIP) for improvements in the facility. The Manufacturing Team Leader has the responsibility to identify, evaluate and lead the implementation of new manufacturing technologies that create more effective and efficient manufacturing processes. This includes robotics, autonomous vehicles, and Industry 4.0 tools.
Coordinate the daily operation of the manufacturing engineering team, including support for off shifts and weekend coverage. Champion, support, and ensure activities associated with production are meeting specified targets with priority focus being on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. Facilitate the implementation of new processes and equipment purchases for new product launches and continuous improvement projects for current processes. Delegate work assignments and evaluate performance of each team member. Establish a positive work environment with team building tools and employee development with a focus on skills training for every team member. Provide support to internal functions where necessary, such as Product Engineering and Finance. Manage all relevant documentation, such as routings, MES instructions, SOP's, and tools used for Lean Manufacturing. Attend Change Management meetings and facilitate approved changes where applicable.
BSME, BSIE, BSIM, or degree in related field. More than 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering in a Manufacturing environment. Comprehensive understanding of finance, capital appropriation, and budgeting practices. Knowledge and experience with automation (robotics, PLC's, LabView, torque tools) and MES systems.
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately high. Must understand, comply with, and communicate to team members, all environmental, health, and safety legislation and regulation relevant to areas of responsibility. Must also train team members with regard to these regulations where applicable.
