Shaw Bowling Center Position

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Shaw Bowling Center Shaw AFB, SC. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing food and beverage items using standard recipes.
  • Ensuring portion control when preparing menu items.
  • Leading subordinate staff in daily operations directed by supervisor.
  • Serving food in a snack bar style.
  • Demonstrating proper work methods and checking work progress.
  • Ensuring equipment is set up, clean, and maintained for daily operation.
  • Training employees in setup, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Selling posted menu items, daily specials, and a limited variety of prepared food and beverages.
  • Utilizing and maintaining the Point of Sale system to support daily operation.
  • Counting and ensuring daily deposits are correct each day of operation.
  • Training staff to maintain correct daily deposits, cash count, credit card transactions, and supporting functions.
  • Maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, and orderly manner through direct observation and delegation of duties.
  • Ensuring preparation for the next day's business is conducted at the end of each day.
  • Performing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance as required.
  • Ensuring the facility meets compliance with Military Public Health and the most current USDA Food Code.
  • Acting as a facility representative for MPH inspections in the absence of the manager.
  • Placing and receiving food and beverage orders and inspecting them.
  • Recommending new items to the manager for inclusion on the menu.
  • Storing food and beverages in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Performing or assisting with monthly inventories.
  • Restocking display coolers.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish food service duties.
  • Ability to follow simple oral instructions, use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines.
  • Skill in doing tasks with several steps and using judgment in sequencing tasks.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Additional information includes:

  • Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Direct deposit is required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
