Business Operations Specialist

The Business Operations Specialist provides business operations support to the department of health services at USC Upstate. Supports departmental fiscal management including procurement, invoicing and accounting for office supplies and equipment, and transaction/claims processing and reporting. Facilitates contracts and supports communications with University departments and third party vendors for all business operations. Works with Health Services Director to coordinate student health insurance plan administration. Coordinates departmental compliance under multiple regulatory areas. Provides support to front desk operations, patient needs, and for programs and initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs. Manage vendor contracts, procurement, POs, and invoices for Health Services Department. Work closely with Division of Student Affairs Fiscal Analyst to ensure all transactions within current policies and procedures, including P-Card purchasing. Process payment requests and travel authorizations. Employee reimbursement. Travel authorization processing. Lead annual PCI Compliance renewal for department. Coordinate and monitor departmental compliance including but not limited to PCI, HIPAA, CAQH, OSHA, and FERPA in accordance with University, state, and federal regulations. Provide administrative support for medical facility permits and other regulatory needs. Maintain regular audit and update of policies, procedures and forms. Assist patients through scheduling, registration, billing and referrals, immunization compliance, and maintain patient accounts and records. Serve as resource for patient enrollments in access programs and referrals to external resources. Support the clinical staff with any administrative needs. Support departmental and student affairs outreach and engagement initiatives. Performs billing and collection procedures. Handles patient level transactions and third-party vendor communications regarding health insurance billing, accounts receivable, prior authorizations and patient account follow up. Serve as primary point of contact for student health insurance plan questions and records management. Maintains accurate electronic health records documentation in billing system and provides reports specific to billing. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma and 2 years of experience in a medical or allied health office that includes electronic health records (EHR) with 1 year of medical billing experience. A successful background check is required. Preferred Experience: Prefer experience in invoices/accounts management, EHR systems support, and insurance billing. Salary: $41,258 - $50,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
