The key purpose of this role is the operation of the brewing processes (Brew house, Cellars, Filtration and Bright Beer Tanks), and associated process areas, the execution of quality control checks and analyses, including problem-solving and supporting the support departments in carrying out asset care and quality activities.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Operating equipment in brewing process areas according to standard operating procedures
- Constantly reviewing process performance against target, and recording and understanding reasons for deviations
- Recording waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information systems, and reviewing waste trends to identify problems
- Carrying out in-depth cleaning, lubrication and inspection of equipment according to autonomous operations and in accordance with the maintenance schedule
- Identifying defective plant, and reporting these through to CRO for resolution
- Carrying out the required quality checks and analyses, and recording the results on the appropriate information system
- The list of quality checks to be executed is contained in the work instructions/SOPs
- Actively participating in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions, making use of the action log to record issues, problems, and improvement opportunities
- Fully understanding the team goals and participating in team goal review sessions
- Making use of relevant communication media (e.g. operator workstations/team rooms) to stay informed and inform others of issues
- Completing required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality, and maintenance are communicated
- Where problems occur, using 5Y's and quick fix routines to identify the possible origin and report these to CRO for resolution
Minimum requirements include:
- Studying towards a National Diploma in Chemical/Food Science/Mechanical Engineering (3rd year student)
- Understanding the brewing process and chemical process of brewing the beer
- Provided an opportunity to fulfil their experiential training or plant exposure
- Monitoring process performance
- Working in teams
- PC Literacy
