Associate Human Resources Business Partner

The Role

Sotheby's HR function is transforming into a commercial, consultative, and influential business partner, responsible for the development and delivery of integrated people solutions for Sotheby's business client groups. As an Associate HRBP, you will support the delivery of HR services to internal client groups and collaborate closely with regional and global counterparts in various HR initiatives. You will assist business to drive the people agenda, advise on critical talent decisions, and support operational excellence across the business.

Responsibilities

Employee Support and HR Administration

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries, providing timely guidance and solutions.
  • Advise employees and line managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate and execute key HR processes, such as performance reviews, salary and bonus planning, and annual budgeting.
  • Manage and maintain employee records, employment contracts, and personnel files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze manpower reports, recruitment metrics, and HR dashboards to support decision-making.

Recruitment and Position Management

  • Lead the recruitment process for junior hires, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding, to ensure timely and quality hiring.
  • Manage agency temp hiring to meet short-term staffing needs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and organizational requirements.
  • Lead the internship program, including planning, recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and evaluation, to support the talent pipeline and enhance employer branding strategies.
  • Oversee regional workforce planning, including headcount approvals, position management, and manpower alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date headcount and position data using HR systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient reporting.
  • Monitor and control manpower costs, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines and effective resource allocation.

Engagement, Projects and Others

  • Plan, organize and execute employee engagement initiatives, including team-building activities, CSR programs, and volunteer events.
  • Lead and support regional HR projects, such as audits, outsourcing initiatives, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify areas for improvement in HR processes and implement solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Manage departmental invoicing processes and collaborate with Finance teams as needed.
  • Handle ad hoc projects as needed

Your Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years relevant HR experience, preferably within a regional or multinational organization
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with a proactive approach in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with proven ability to see projects through to completion.
  • Strong prioritization skills and flexibility to manage a wide range of tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Calm under pressure, with a practical mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Knowledge of HK Labour Ordinance essential, wider APAC knowledge would be highly beneficial
  • Strong systems knowledge (Word and Excel is essential, previous use of databases such as SAP would be an advantage)
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
