The Public Sector Presales Engineer is responsible for supporting the U.S. Public Sector sales organization across all Sophos solutions and services. This role engages with Federal, State & Local Government, K-12, and Higher Education customers to drive technical success during the sales cycle. The Presales Engineer partners closely with sales, product management, and channel teams to deliver product demonstrations, proof of concepts, and technical expertise that align with customer business needs.
Provide presales support to the Public Sector sales organization through remote and onsite engagements
Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, proof of concepts (POCs), and respond to technical questions on Sophos solutions and services
Create and maintain enablement tools such as demo environments, technical videos, and POCs showcasing Sophos value
Proactively deliver technical information to partners and maintain strong partner technical relationships
Participate in channel partner enablement programs and technical training activities
Support lead generation initiatives including events, webinars, and user groups
Gather customer and partner feedback and share with product management to influence product direction
Travel occasionally to customer, partner, and internal meetings or trainings
Minimum of 2 years' experience in presales support, technical support, or IT administration (e.g., designing, managing, or supporting technical solutions).
Strong technical expertise in networking, endpoint security, email security, and managed detection & response (MDR).
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging both technical and executive audiences.
Excellent project management and technical writing skills.
Knowledge of the security software industry, competitors, and evolving market trends.
Familiarity with Sophos solutions or similar competitive products preferred.
Relevant certifications in networking, security, or cloud technologies are a plus.
Desired (not required): Hands-on IT infrastructure management experience. Experience selling security solutions. Direct presales experience.
