Position Summary

Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a Pre-Delivery Operations Specialist to support the launch and operational execution of AFEELA's pre-delivery inspection (PDI) program. In this hands-on, facility-based role, you'll help ensure vehicles meet SHMA's high-quality standards before being released for customer delivery.

You will coordinate day-to-day PDI activities on-site, triage inspection issues, and serve as a central point of contact between SHMA teams, vendors, and repair centers. This is a critical role for ensuring operational readiness and exceptional vehicle quality at delivery.

Ideal candidates have experience in dealership service operations, vehicle delivery, or PDI workflows—and are excited to contribute to a launch-phase EV startup.

Job Responsibilities

1. Support daily operations of SHMA's Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) processes at designated facilities.
2. Monitor vehicle readiness, inspection milestones, and process flows to ensure all units meet AFEELA's delivery standards.
3. Coordinate predelivery repair workflows in collaboration with delivery, service, and vendor teams.
4. Verify and triage concerns identified in PDI inspection reports, escalating to appropriate stakeholders as needed.
5. Create and manage repair orders in the dealership/service management system.
6. Partner with logistics to schedule vehicle transport to and from repair centers.
7. Serve as the delivery hub's single point of contact for all repair-center interactions.
8. Track repair status and maintain clear "next steps" for each vehicle until resolution.
9. Provide regular repair and inspection status updates to management and delivery advisers.
10. Collaborate with third-party vendors performing inspections, detailing, and processing activities.
11. Report daily throughput, exception cases, and quality trends to SHMA leadership.
12. Assist in documenting SOPs and recommending process improvements for PDI operations.
13. Support audits of inventory, tools, and safety equipment at PDI facilities.
14. Ensure alignment with internal teams across Service, Quality, Logistics, and Delivery.

Required Qualifications for Position

• 3+ years of experience in automotive pre-delivery, dealership service, vehicle quality, or delivery operations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple vehicles across complex workflows.
• Hands-on understanding of OEM vehicle inspections, post-manufacture prep, and delivery standards.
• Effective communicator with experience collaborating across teams and vendors in dynamic environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools for tracking, reporting, and documentation.
• Passion for EV innovation, vehicle quality, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Preferred Qualifications for Position

• Experience working in a dealership PDI center, port processing facility, or vehicle logistics hub.
• Familiarity with electric vehicle (EV) systems, diagnostics, or high-voltage safety.
• Experience supporting new vehicle launches or pre-production workflows at an OEM or automotive startup.
• Technical knowledge of vehicle systems, repair documentation, or inspection tooling.
• Bilingual in Japanese or Spanish is a plus.

Additional Details

• Work Arrangement: This is an on-site position in Fremont, CA.
• Travel Requirements: Minimal, though occasional travel to other SHMA or vendor sites may be required.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80,000-$90,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
