Senior Backend Engineer (java)

We are looking for Java+Scala Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing team.

What you’ll do

Backend Engineering (Hands-On)

• Develop and maintain microservices using Java 17 and Spring Boot, and support existing Scala/Akka services.

• Build features end-to-end: requirements clarification, design, implementation, testing, release, and production support.

• Work with event-driven architecture using Kafka for streaming and messaging.

• Manage data persistence and system reliability using AWS RDS (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and DynamoDB.

• Ensure application health, resilience, and performance using Datadog and monitoring/alerting best practices.

• Contribute to the improvement of CI/CD pipelines and automation to ensure smooth deployments.

• Perform code reviews, participate in technical discussions, and uphold engineering standards.

Microservices Architecture & Cloud Operations

• Design scalable services following best practices of distributed systems.

• Work with Docker/Kubernetes for containerized deployments.

• Support production environments, investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive service reliability improvements.

What you bring

• 5–7+ years of backend development experience.

• Strong proficiency with Java 17, Spring Boot ecosystem, Hibernate/JPA.

• Solid experience with relational databases: schema design, query optimization, performance tuning.

• Hands-on experience with Kafka in production environments.

• Proven experience with AWS services (RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.).

• Good understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and DevOps workflows.

• High level of independence, ownership, and problem-solving skills.

• English level: B2+ — capable of active participation in technical discussions.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with Scala/Akka in distributed systems.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud networking.

• Familiarity with observability: metrics, logs, tracing strategy.
