Role Definition Provides support and guidance on all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for manufacturing.

Responsibilities Participating in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to equipment and processes. Monitoring equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problem areas. Analyzing engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates, and implements all changes. Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities. Degree Requirement Bachelors Degree or equivalent turbomachinery experience desired

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks. Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process. Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact. Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives. Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus. Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Develops basic persuasive arguments. Discusses organizational culture around providing input on decisions. Uses active listening skills and probing techniques to surface opportunities to influence. Identifies who the decision makers are and how they receive information. Regularly presents ideas or suggestions to associates in persuasive terms.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Clarifies and handles multiple concurrent and diverse activities. Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities. Addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities.

Change Control - MFG: Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored, and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively. Assesses errors that occur during change execution and takes action in correcting these errors. Conducts impact analyses to determine the effect change might have on the status of current production environment. Implements routine changes to the production environment; documents the changes made. Follows the established change control process to ensure the performance of emergency repair and maintenance. Prevents unauthorized or unintended deviations in compliance with that of change control policies.

Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes. Discusses considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring. Finds solution for key technical and people problems associated with transformation to lean. Explains issues and considerations of implementing lean in own function or area. Selects and utilizes tools, techniques and measurements associated with a lean assessment. Explains benchmarks and measures of effectiveness of lean.

Manufacturing Equipment: Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update, and store them. Performs routine maintenance: cleaning, replacing defective or worn parts. Performs basic care and safety considerations for a specific type of manufacturing equipment. Participates in setting up new machines and testing according to manufacturer's specifications. Uses standard diagnostic tools and techniques; resolves common problems. Conducts routine inspections; checks machine performance and equipment safeguards; reports standards violations.

Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Assesses associated phases, activities, deliverables and processes. Documents relevant standards, policies and practices. Follows standard manufacturing processes to conduct production activities. Researches new technologies to be integrated into existing manufacturing process. Explains tools, techniques and documents used for process monitoring and control.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment. Documents common hardware, software and communications problems and likely resolutions. Troubleshoots typical technical problems in a specific area. Works with vendor-specific diagnostic guides, tools and utilities to discover application problems. Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolutions. Participates in setting evaluation standards and criterion for troubleshooting.

Summary Pay Range: $87,456.00 - $131,184.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
