Senior Cloud Engineer (GCP)

Join a cloud operations engagement. The project focuses on operating and optimizing a large-scale Google Cloud Platform environment.

Position – how you'll contribute

• Manage and support GCP infrastructure including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and VPC
• Respond to and resolve incidents within defined SLA targets; perform triage, diagnosis, and remediation
• Execute approved changes including provisioning, scaling, patching, and deployments
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules and IaC templates for GCP resources
• Configure and optimize monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using GCP Operations Suite and Datadog
• Perform cloud cost optimization analysis and implement recommendations (committed use discounts, rightsizing, scheduling)
• Maintain and update runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
• Participate in shift handoff meetings and ensure clean knowledge transfer between regions
• Support CI/CD pipeline operations and deployment automation

Expectations – the experience you need

• 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with 3+ years on Google Cloud Platform
• Strong knowledge of GCP core services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, VPC, IAM, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (GCP provider)
• Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting skills (GKE preferred)
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, Bash, or Go
• Solid understanding of networking: VPC design, firewall rules, load balancing, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS
• Experience with monitoring tools: GCP Operations Suite (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging), Datadog, or Prometheus/Grafana
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools: Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
• Understanding of GCP IAM, security best practices, and organizational policies

Additional skills – the edge you have

• GCP Professional Cloud Engineer or GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification
• Experience with BigQuery data engineering or Cloud Dataflow
• Knowledge of Anthos for hybrid/multi-cloud scenarios
• Experience with GCP billing APIs and cost management tools
• ITIL Foundation certification
