Lnm Technician
The LNM Technician provides crop management and nutrient application to farmland areas in an environmentally sound and sustainable fashion. Ensures all outdoor activities are completed to satisfy Smithfield Hog Production Division's commitment to farm appearance and stewardship policies.
Core responsibilities include general maintenance, weed eating, spraying, side mowing, bush hogging, discing fields, record keeping, moving equipment, driving tractors/mowers, and complying with safety, bio-security, and environmental management system rules and regulations. Daily rainfall readings, inspections, spill recoveries, winterizing equipment, aerwaying, setting up pumps and suction, and pumping/transferring water or effluent are also part of the role. Certification as a state spray applicator within one year of hire date is required. The technician must be on call to work in emergency situations.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED preferred, ability to read and speak English, previous experience with farm machinery or heavy equipment, ability to work alone, ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, ability to work an average 48-hour week, ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed, ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
