This position is a Winter/Spring Co-Op position from Jan. to Jun. 2026, based out of Irvine, California. You will participate in the key activities pertaining to the technology development of piezoelectric Bulk and Surface acoustic resonators (BAW/SAW). You will be working with top engineers and scientists in a multifunctional team, providing characterization, modeling, and analysis support with the most advanced lab and software equipment. You will be designing and executing complex test setups to be able to isolate, measure, and analyze key parameters to improve process and design.
Design, program, and execute RF measurements for semiconductors/acoustic devices
Perform analysis, extractions, and modeling of measured data
Summarize extracted analysis and perform reports to be presented among fellow engineers and designers
Propose new ways to design the state-of-the-art BAW devices based on physics-based models and data-driven models
Current student pursuing a PhD in a relevant engineering field
Must be able to work 40 hours per week, June/July - December 2026
Must be able to work onsite in our design center in Irvine, CA
Basic hands-on in RF and/or electrical equipment
Experience with scientific programming using MATLAB and/or Python
Ability to process, cleanse, and validate the integrity of data to be used for further analysis and experiments
Familiarity with statistics, machine learning techniques, algorithms, and optimization
Knowledge of RF concepts and circuit simulators (ADS)
Knowledge of FEM tools, such as COMSOL
Knowledge of data analysis and programming - Preferred Python and Matlab
Knowledge of BAW resonators or RFMEMS resonators will be a plus
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
