Civil Structural Engineer Opportunity

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer for a contract position in Mobile, AL.

This position requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and field support. The ideal candidate will have significant experience leading civil/structural engineering projects, developing design solutions, and supporting major capital projects from concept through completion.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Civil/Structural (CSA) Lead Engineer on industrial projects of varying scope and complexity.
• Supervise and mentor engineering staff, ensuring adherence to Evonik’s quality standards and project goals.
• Develop conceptual layouts, cost studies, and preliminary designs to support project estimates and proposals.
• Assemble and review bid packages for civil and structural work scopes.
• Apply engineering codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.) to ensure design compliance and safety.
• Perform and review civil/structural analyses using Risa 3D and Risa Foundation (preferred).
• Utilize CAD software and Microsoft Office to prepare and review drawings, reports, and documentation.
• Conduct field work to collect project data and provide on-site construction support as needed.
• Review calculations and design deliverables prepared by others to ensure accuracy and conformance to codes and specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement and maintain quality processes within the CSA department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant civil/structural engineering experience.
• Prior experience serving as a Project Manager on single-discipline projects preferred.
• Experience as a CSA lead on major capital projects highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Proficiency in civil/structural analysis software (Risa 3D & Risa Foundation preferred).
• Proficient in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to develop cost estimates, preliminary designs, and material take-offs.
• Demonstrated leadership in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required, following Evonik’s travel policy.

Preferred Certifications:

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
