Software Engineer IV

We are hiring a Software Engineer IV to join the Delight engineering team. This role reflects Simpro's Software Engineer IV expectations while operating in a founder-led, startup-style environment. You will own backend-heavy systems that power core product features and AI-driven workflows used in production every day. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact individual contributor role with direct influence on architecture, technical direction, and long-term system design.

What You Will Do

• Design, build, and operate production backend services and APIs using Python and TypeScript
• Build and operate AI-enabled systems integrating large language models and agent-style workflows
• Own systems end to end, from design through production operation and evolution
• Architect and run distributed, asynchronous, event-driven systems
• Own core backend services or AI workflows used across multiple product areas
• Drive technical decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and mitigate system-level risks
• Contribute to frontend functionality as needed, with a clear backend focus
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and raise the engineering quality bar
• Collaborate closely with product and design in a fast-moving environment

Who You Are

• Senior-level engineer with strong backend experience and solid full stack skills
• Deep production experience with Python and TypeScript
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous architectures
• Experience building AI-enabled products, or strong interest in doing so
• Comfortable with high ownership, ambiguity, and minimal process
• Proven ability to deliver complex systems independently
• Clear communicator who can explain decisions and influence technical direction
• Startup or 0→1 experience strongly preferred
