Silver Dollar City - Maintenance & Construction, Train Engineer/Operator (Full-Time Seasonal, 2026)

This is a Full Time Seasonal Position that starts 5/11/2026 and ends 4/4/2027. Please submit a Resume.

Job Summary: As a Train Engineer, you will support the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of the Silver Dollar City's steam train system during the operating season. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the continued reliability, safety, and historic integrity of our steam train attraction while the park is open to guests.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operation of the steam train attraction in alignment with company procedures and safety standards.
  • Respond to downtime, repair and ride recovery issues immediately upon notification.
  • Assist with routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safe operation and reliability.
  • Identify concerns, troubleshoot issues, and assist with corrective repairs as needed.
  • Utilize tools, equipment, manuals, and documentation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures during all work activities.
  • Document work performed in the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other maintenance teams, and leadership.
  • Work independently when needed and cooperatively with team members to complete assignments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check.
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to tolerate a year-round outdoor environment, cold and hot temperatures.
  • Ability to withstand heights, climb stairs, walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds (assisted).
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend instructions and communicate in English.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E Driver's License or resident state equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Education and Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years of previous maintenance experience and/or experience in a Theme Park Industry setting preferred.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance equipment.
  • Proof of current certification(s) in any related field or equipment preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour course completion preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 50 pounds frequently to 100 pounds maximum.
  • The ability to stand and walk on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, concrete.
  • The ability to work in extreme weather.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
  • The ability to remember locations, understand and carry instructions.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders, hills and stairs.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in an active, outdoor theme park environment with regular exposure to changing weather conditions throughout the operating season. Train Engineers work in and around the park's steam train attraction in both guest-facing and operational areas, which may include navigating uneven terrain, inclines, stairs, and tight spaces. The role requires extended periods of standing, walking, and remaining alert while supporting daily train operations and addressing service or maintenance needs as they arise. Consistent communication, teamwork, and coordination with other maintenance teams, operations staff, and leadership are important to support reliable daily service and a positive guest experience.
