Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, optimization, and scale-up of Protein A affinity ligands and associated purification processes for biopharmaceutical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Engineering: Create and engineer Protein A variants with enhanced binding, stability, and selectivity characteristics.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and execute projects aimed at developing and optimizing preparative chromatography processes, including resin screening, column packing, and process scale-up.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams in R&D, manufacturing, and quality to ensure smooth technology transfer and robust processes.
  • Analytical Development: Develop and perform analytical assays to characterize Protein A ligands and assess purification performance.
  • Documentation: Clearly document experimental work and contribute to technical reports, patent applications, and regulatory filings.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on advancements in protein engineering, affinity chromatography, and related bioprocessing technologies.

Qualifications

Education: PhD or MS in Biochemistry, Protein Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in protein engineering and preparative chromatography, particularly with Protein A affinity systems.

Technical Skills: Proficient in molecular biology techniques, protein expression and purification, and chromatographic method development.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis and interpretation.

Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the scale-up and manufacturing of chromatography processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of downstream processing for monoclonal antibodies.
