Oversees the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, tooling and operations for new and existing products.
Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs. Acts as liaison with engineering in releasing new products.
Develops systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varian's business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.
Executes on Manufacturing strategy and collaborates cross functionally with engineering, supply chain and quality in releasing new products.
Drives smart factory assessments and implements tools in line with the global technical digitalization roadmap.
Promotes Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies resulting in cost-reductions and customer give backs.
Scope of role may include interaction with other sites and operations, and with other business functional areas such as Service and R&D.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Understanding and working knowledge of business financials.
Experience with Operations finance, particularly standard product costing and cost benefit analysis.
Program/project planning and management experience.
Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing, Design for Excellence or similar principles
Established network with other Engineering professionals or other Eng organizations or societies.
Understanding of Engineering requirements for the healthcare equipment industry, particularly those found with FDA and ISO13485.
Familiarity and working abilities with: Project Planning, charting and presentations, financial models.
Typical Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent. 10 years of related experience.
5 years management experience.
