We're hiring a Head of Engineering at Shuttle, to lead the development of our AI-native backend platform, drive engineering velocity, and scale our cloud infrastructure for a fast-growing developer base.

A hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in software engineering and cloud infrastructure, who thrives in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

• Own and evolve Shuttle's AI-native backend platform architecture, ensuring it scales with our growing developer base
• Lead the engineering teams in terms of best practices, high-level technical decisions, helps bring velocity to the level we want
• Champion AI tools for engineering - drive adoption of cutting-edge tools and practices to elevate internal devex and velocity
• Act as a glue between different technical teams and ensure things progress with coherence
• Build and mentor high-performing remote teams with a "ship fast" culture, hire and coach new engineers
• Actively contribute to codebase - both writing code and reviewing it
• Champion our values of simplicity, ease, and joy in development across all technical initiatives
• Work closely with founders to distill product vision and specs into technical plans, ensure the plans get executed efficiently and effectively

This role is for you if you have led large-scale projects on AWS/Azure/GCP for 5+ years

• AI power user / very excited about AI in dev workflows.
• Strong expertise in one of Python, Go or Rust.
• Has used Kubernetes in at least one production system at scale.
• Able to (at least) read Rust code and support an existing production system.
• Software engineer at heart who is not afraid of looking at a diverse stack of technologies.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, with having had a major contribution to at least 2 large scale production systems.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ownership mentality.
• Experience scaling engineering teams.
• Strong leadership skills/experience.

Experience in leading remote teams and driving early-stage startup growth as a founder or senior leader

Background in working at dev tools companies

Track record of thought leadership in the developer tools space

Significant open-source contributions and community involvement

Background in developer experience optimisation
