As a Supplier Quality Engineer in Supplier Quality Management (SQM) at Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, you will ensure and improve the supplier quality outcomes in the medical capital equipment arena. You will support the implementation of SQM requirements regarding preventive actions, technical specifications, and qualification of suppliers. Additionally, you will act as SQM contact in cross-functional teams.
We are hiring Supplier Quality Engineers for three different regions: Malvern, PA (Northeast Remote), Chicago, IL (Midwest Remote), and Palo Alto, California (Onsite in Palo Alto).
What You Will Do:
Support Global Strategic Supplier Quality Management
- Drive global supplier relationship management and development, ensuring alignment with company objectives and standards.
- Collaborate with SQEs across sites to ensure consistent communication and feedback on supplier performance.
Foster Global Supplier Partnership and Quality Improvement
- Build long-term supplier partnerships, drive continuous improvement on critical quality issues, and implement proactive quality measures.
- Use tools such as the PQ/SQ Dashboard to establish performance baselines and develop ongoing improvement activities with suppliers.
- Experience with PPAP/SPC and other quality management tools.
Support Supplier Selection and Onboarding
- Supplier development and compliance to quality standards.
- Performance monitoring, auditing, and improvement.
- Support with supplier evaluation activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Enhance Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Strengthen partnerships with Strategic Procurement, site SQEs, and engineering team members to effectively resolve supplier-related issues.
- Organize regular meetings with Site SQEs to gain a comprehensive, global understanding of supplier performance.
- Develop close working relationships with Strategic Procurement, relevant Commodity Managers, and site SQEs to improve collaboration.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Effectively resolve supplier issues.
- Communication of escalated or emerging issues.
- Monitor supplier data and KPIs.
- Reduce warranty and non-conformance costs.
- Support and drive assigned QatS deliverables.
What You Will Have:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical, fields OR equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain and Supplier Quality Engineering.
- Proficiency in using MS Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc.
- Willingness to travel to supplier locations both domestically and internationally, up to 30%, potentially on short notice.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Experience in healthcare and medical technology sector and strong understanding of ISO13485 and ISO9001 standards preferred.
- One or all of the following certifications: ISO Certified Lead Auditor, CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt.
- PPAP/APQP experience and certification.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external partners.
