Automotive Product Specialist

This position involves the effective application of Sherwin-Williams automotive products to clients, including body shops, dealerships, production workshops, auto auctions, etc. The role involves spraying products and resolving common issues during the painting process, as well as identifying customer needs and developing appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities

Familiarize self with all products and procedures recommended in the productivity processes, including product application and preparation.

Assist customers in proper selection and application of product to develop expert relationship.

Support sales reps branch operations and distributors with technical and marketing assistance as needed.

Develop knowledge/skills regarding sales techniques and methods.

Assist in color verification and field color formulations.

Assist branch operations and distributors in internal training at all levels.

Develop training aids and implement as needed to effectively communicate information.

Assist customers in set-up and implementation of mixing systems.

Allow self to be readily accessible to customer for advice/assistance.

Build/manage relationships with sales reps/branches.

Identify potential problems and establish solutions with sales support network.

Give timely attention to customer comments and complaints and advise Area Sales manager, Branch Manager, and/or distributors of such.

Possess knowledge of Sherwin-Williams' competitive advantages.

Act as key technical knowledge source by staying up to date on industry and product change.

Control expenses, remaining within budget, and maintain required records/documentation and submit required reports, documentation, and summaries as required by management.

Efficiently budget technical support calls to ensure the best use of time and company resources.

Maintain accurate records of all demonstrations.

Make delivery of product as needed ensuring customer's quality and service expectations are met.

Conduct self in professional manner to ensure customers' quality and service expectations are met.

Operate vehicle in accordance with all state and federal laws while maintaining an acceptable personal driving record.

Adhere to company safety standards at all times.

Suggest new products that are introduced if applicable.

Implement or create procedures that will help the customer in avoiding issues or allow them to improve their process.

Enter all calls in CRM with detailed and accurate comments.

Troubleshoot product quality issues that may occur and implement solutions.

Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Formal Education:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field.

Knowledge & Experience:

Required: Valid driver's license; at least 3-5 years working with vehicle refinish processes and products.

Preferred: Prior sales experience; automotive aftermarket experience.

Technical/Skill Requirements:

Required: Demonstrated ability to work with word documents and spreadsheets; demonstrated high level of both verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations and financial ratios relative to a P&L demonstrated ability to make independent decisions; employee may be required to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 100 lbs. on occasion; employee will spend approximately 45% of the day sitting (due to driving); employee must be able to drive a car or van, since a major portion of this position is traveling from site to site; must be able to tint paint, therefore, must be able to distinguish one or more chromatic colors; employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required; employee must be able to operate a hand truck and/or material handling equipment; employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.

Travel Requirements: (Time spent away from home or other typical office location) 75%.
