Financial Services Claims Trainee

To develop the skills and decision-making capabilities necessary to manage the claims process for a claims manager’s area and to be able to ensure cost effective and timely solution of customer claims within authorized levels. The Claims Manager Trainee must develop knowledge and skills needed to advance to a Claims Manager position within the designated time. In all actions and communications, the Claims Manager Trainee must demonstrate solid business judgment during the investigation and decision on the claims, type for dispute, and prior to the communication of the claim’s decision to the customer/end user.

Essential Duties

  • Complete the training and development needed to conduct investigations, research, negotiation, communication, and decision making related to customer claims and to be able to independently execute the claims process.
  • Develop the knowledge to ensure that claims are reported and the proper cause and analysis is provided.
  • Develop and maintain a level of professional business skills, including communication (both verbal and written), to interact internally with internal stakeholders and externally with customers/end users.
  • Develop negotiation and decision-making skills to determine the most effective course of action during the claims process.
  • Develop the ability to assess each claim individually with consideration of the customer/end user and with a focus to find the most favorable outcome for all.
  • Develop the understanding of the proper selection, research, and use of 3rd party inspectors, insurers, or other resources.
  • Become proficient in the initiation of claims, returns, and reauthorizations.
  • Develop basic knowledge of claims, returns, reauthorizations processes, and records.
  • Develop the ability to direct, project, and support the customer’s needs.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of redit, accounts payble, and accounts receivable policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of claims policies and procedures with experience in product specific and construction focus.
  • Be willing to travel for claims.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience plus:
  • Ability to effectively problem solve, negotiate, and organize.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within time limits.
  • Ability to provide exemplary service and support in every aspect of the job.
