An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Scheduler to join Service Stream in Ferntree Gully.

About the Role

Service Stream's Power division are currently seeking a Scheduler to join our growing company. The Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimising the scheduling of field crews across Victoria to support the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electricity network services. This role focuses on maximising productive "time on tools" for crews, reducing unnecessary travel, and ensuring work is executed in alignment with business priorities, regulatory obligations, and client expectations.

Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Ferntree Gully, VIC

Reporting Line: Tenders and Scheduling Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end scheduling of field crews for maintenance, construction, inspection, and emergency response activities across the electricity distribution network.
  • Optimise schedules to minimise crew travel and maximise utilisation and productivity.
  • Collaborate with planning, operations, and field leadership teams to ensure resource availability aligns with work requirements.
  • Monitor daily and weekly schedules, adjusting to manage changing priorities such as unplanned outages, weather events, or urgent work orders.
  • Use scheduling and workforce management systems to allocate work efficiently and maintain data accuracy.
  • Analyse performance data to identify improvements in scheduling efficiency, crew utilisation, and service delivery.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical expertise to other schedulers and planners.
  • Act as a key liaison point between field teams, supervisors, and operational control centres to ensure effective communication and work coordination.
  • Ensure all schedules comply with safety, regulatory, and enterprise agreement requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in scheduling practices, tools, and processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Crew utilisation rates (time on tools vs travel/idle time).
  • Accuracy and efficiency of scheduling.
  • On-time completion of planned and corrective work.
  • Responsiveness to unplanned/emergency events.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction (field crews, supervisors, operational teams).
  • Compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory obligations.

About You Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in workforce scheduling, rostering, or operations planning, preferably in the utilities, construction, or field services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of electricity distribution network operations or similar field-based environments.
  • Proven ability to optimise schedules to reduce inefficiencies and improve productivity.
  • High proficiency in scheduling/workforce management systems and MS Office tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt quickly to change, and manage competing priorities.

  • Experience in mentoring other team members.
  • Understanding of enterprise agreements, fatigue management, and compliance requirements.
