Staff Software Engineer

The Identity & User Management (IUM) team is the secure front door to the entire ServiceTitan ecosystem. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the team's technical anchor and domain expert. You will be a key influencer, responsible for championing our north-star architecture and leading the implementation of our next-generation, microservices-based platform. By solving complex identity challenges, you will be a key part of our mission to empower the trades and change lives.

What you'll do:

  • Champion Technical Excellence: Act as the technical anchor for the IUM team, championing our service-oriented, north-star architecture and ensuring the microservices we build are scalable, secure, and reliable.
  • Lead Critical Implementations: Take the lead on designing and implementing complex, high-impact microservices within the identity domain, tackling challenges in modern authentication, authorization, and user lifecycle management.
  • Act as a Domain Expert & Mentor: Serve as a go-to expert on Identity & Access Management for other teams, providing technical guidance on integrations within our distributed ecosystem. You will mentor other engineers on the team, elevating their skill level.
  • Drive Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, principal engineers, and adjacent teams to solve complex integration challenges across our microservices landscape.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a significant focus on building and scaling backend systems.
  • Architectural Skill: Crucially, you must have deep experience designing, building, and operating scalable and resilient microservices. Experience with event-driven architectures using technologies like Kafka is a major plus.
  • Domain Expertise: Expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts and protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of our tech stack, including C# / .NET, Web APIs, and databases like MongoDB and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience with caching technologies like Redis is also a plus.
  • Modern Engineering Practices: A deep commitment to software quality, demonstrated through experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and a keen focus on observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
  • Leadership & Influence: A demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, mentor other engineers, and influence technical decisions without formal authority. You are a role model for others.
  • Communication: Strong communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
