Residential Counselor - Community Support Services (CSS)

Job Title

The counselor provides training and support in skills development, medication management, work readiness activities, case management, and service coordination to clients experiencing significant disturbances in daily living due to severe and persistent mental illness. The counselor is also available on a schedule that includes Sunday 9AM to 5PM, Monday 11AM to 7PM, Tuesday 9AM to 5PM, Wednesday 9AM to 5PM, and Thursday 11AM to 7PM.

Essential duties and responsibilities include involvement in the recruitment, training, and ongoing monitoring of care provided by therapeutic foster care providers; regular interaction with providers regarding client issues and the provision of care; assessment of needs, completion of required documentation, case management, coordination with collateral care providers, advocacy for client's needs, provision of individual therapeutic rehabilitation skill development, illness management and recovery, family intervention as indicated, crisis assessment and intervention; provision of termination planning and medication and psychosocial education to clients; carrying and responding to a pager providing on-call services; involvement in the planning and carrying out of quarterly therapeutic provider meetings; functioning as a member of the clinical treatment team; and performing other duties as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of social work, human services, counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation, psychology, or criminal justice, or a license as a RN in lieu of a bachelor's degree; a minimum of two years working in a community-based behavioral health setting; and a valid driver's license in the state of residence plus a three-year driving history and a driving record in good standing.

Salary: $20.51 per hour.
