HR Operations Specialist

Join our team as an HR Operations Specialist! As an HR Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting various HR functions by leveraging system knowledge and HR Policy expertise.

As an HR Operations Specialist, you will:

  • Facilitate employee lifecycle transactions using Workday, including hires, terminations, job changes, move worker, contingent worker updates, work environment changes, and supervisory organization maintenance to ensure tasks are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in HCM and Time & Absence business process, supporting Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Associate Relations, and Finance by leveraging system expertise to troubleshoot issues related to the above business processes.
  • Facilitate leave administration processes, including Family Medical Leave and Disability Pay Continuation from associate's initial notice of leave through their return to work. Verify eligibility, ensures timely receipt of documentation, and monitors leave time to ensure accurate pay.
  • Audit files daily for integration issues and makes manual corrections as needed.
  • Collaborate with Health Services and HR Operations Sr to review files, identify errors, troubleshoot issues, implement workarounds, and test configuration updates.
  • Serve as a centralized point of contact using call center and case management systems to resolve inquiries from associates, dependents, managers, retirees, and internal HR peers.
  • Partner across HR for guidance, best practices, and effective solutions, while adapting to evolving legal, procedural, and technological changes to maintain effective and accurate support.
  • Conduct onboarding and offboarding activities including, administering drug tests, background checks, completing and reverifying I-9 documentation, assisting associates with expiring work authorizations, leading new hire company tours, conducting exit interviews, and preparing exit paperwork for terminations, completes unemployment forms, monitors separation agreement timing and ensures final pay is accurate and timely.
  • Ensure the accuracy of bi-weekly payroll by monitoring time adjustments, pay inputs, and benefit changes; identify and resolve discrepancies in paychecks, including updates and corrections to pay-impacting integration changes related to leaves of absence.
  • Maintain knowledge of payroll codes, benefit deductions, and state pay laws to ensure compliance, and analyze recurring issues to implement preventative solutions and reduce future errors.
  • Oversee the retention of employment documents and associate employment files and partners with Sentry's Legal department to produce records for associate file request, legal reviews, employment agreements and subpoenas.
  • Provide operational support and serves as subject matter expert in various HR programs including fit funding processing, student loan processing, tuition reimbursement processing, COBRA, open enrollment, United Way, Political Action campaign, anniversary reimbursements, and memorial celebrations.

What it Takes:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience, degree in Human Resources or Business Administrator preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience. Preferred experience in a customer facing position or administrative work.
  • Prior experience in administering employment data, benefit and compensation data within an HCM is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in an operational support role strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience resolving and responding to employee inquiries preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Change advocate – mindset and related actions that demonstrates an expectation of change and reacts with understanding and perspective.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, processes and procedures.
  • Organizational, mathematical, communication and human relations skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to demonstrate strict confidentiality with respect to HR and associate information.
  • Demonstrated experience using various software applications within a business environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
