Job Description
The 3D Plant Layout Designer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and validating detailed 3D plant layouts in support of manufacturing and product launch activities. This role works closely with engineering, suppliers, and build teams to ensure layout accuracy, safety, and compliance with customer CAD standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain overall 3D plant layouts using AutoCAD based on scanned point cloud sets
- Design, update, and maintain all conveyor carriers in a 3D environment
- Identify, analyze, and resolve layout interferences and safety concerns
- Integrate and manage 3D CAD files received from suppliers
- Release updated layouts on a weekly basis to the core product launch team
- Perform field checks to identify plant monuments and verify layout accuracy
- Create and release build and installation drawings for construction and installation teams
- Participate in pilot builds and process validation activities to confirm layout accuracy and resolve design-related issues
- Ensure compliance with all customer CAD standards, including file naming conventions, layer usage, and xrefs
- Upload, manage, and maintain all layout information in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency with the AutoCAD PDMC suite
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or related industrial environments
- Solid understanding of conveyor types and conveyor components
- Ability to design using Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD system
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
