Job Description

For an important client in the Oil&Gas sector, we are looking for a Chemical & Laboratory Engineer to join our team in Potenza.

The resource will be responsible for all chemical activities and laboratory operations, ensuring accurate technical analysis, optimized chemical injection programs, control of chemical product inventory, and efficient laboratory cost management.

Main Responsibilities

• Compliance and Safety: Ensuring full adherence to quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and international safety standards.
• Technical Reference Point: Acting as a guarantor for Management of Change (MoC) related to new chemical products and operating as the primary treatment function for the site.
• Laboratory Management: Overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring equipment reliability, accuracy of results, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Analysis and Reporting: Validating and interpreting laboratory measurements; ensuring timely technical reporting, including trend analysis and performance monitoring.
• Chemical Optimization: Defining and optimizing chemical injection rates (including low flow dosing), establishing reaction times, and publishing weekly and monthly instructions in coordination with the Operations department.
• R&D and Testing: Performing laboratory tests for new chemical products (performance evaluation, stability, and compatibility assessment) and evaluating new suppliers to optimize treatment programs.
• Supply Chain and Costs: Managing the inventory of chemical products, monitoring stock levels, participating in purchasing decisions, and controlling operational costs (consumables, service contracts, and external analyses).
• Maintenance: Ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to guarantee full functionality.
• Documentation: Providing and updating safety data sheets (MSDS) and maintaining the Production Chemistry Study Report throughout the field’s lifecycle.
• Collaboration: Collaborating with Production, Field Engineering, and HSE departments to provide technical documentation and operational recommendations based on data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical engineering, specifically in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Solid knowledge of chemical injection systems and equipment management.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in laboratory supervision and in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques will be considered a significant plus.
