Senior Build & Release Engineer - Star Trek Fleet Command

Scopely is looking for a Senior Build & Release Engineer to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team within our Midcore division in Ireland, Spain, the United Kingdom or Portugal on a remote basis.

Star Trek Fleet Command is a standout success in the gaming industry. Launched in 2018, our in-house developed 4X Strategy MMO has continually evolved, earning its place as one of the top-grossing games on the market.

What You Will Do

  • Work with a team of Build and Release engineers specializing in Unity 3D games and release pipelines, configured in Jenkins and Gitlab
  • Set up, configure, and maintain build systems for compiling game code, assets, and resources
  • Develop and maintain scripts/tools to automate and optimize build processes
  • Manage the build pipeline and ensure efficient and reliable builds for various platforms (PC & mobile)
  • Ensure proper integration of code and assets through version control systems
  • Monitor and troubleshoot build failures, addressing issues promptly and ensuring stability of the build process
  • Optimize build times and resource usage for faster and more efficient production cycles
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including game developers, QA testers, and production teams to ensure timely delivery of game builds
  • Create and maintain a focus on best practices and efficiency by taking part in code reviews, development processes, and training opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including game development, QA, operations and the management team to drive effective communication, collaboration and stakeholder management

What We're Looking For

  • Highly experienced in a build and release role, with solid understanding of software build and release processes, including CI/CD best practices, specifically for Unity 3D games
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git, and build management tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Maven or Gradle, including pipeline creation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Unity integrations in CI systems
  • Experience with languages such as Groovy, Ruby & Python will be valuable
  • Working knowledge of Terraform, Packer & Docker, ECS and other orchestration languages
  • In depth understanding of Cloud based systems, AWS essential
  • Understanding of networking concepts and of security
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling productive collaboration with other team members, peers, and management
  • Experience in the gaming industry, especially with Unity 3D game development and release processes, is preferred
  • Experience with processes for automated testing and automating workflows
  • Experience working successfully with distributed teams
