Maintenance Engineer

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain guest rooms, public areas, and hotel grounds to brand and safety standards.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing issues, and general carpentry needs.
  • Complete painting and cosmetic repairs, including surface prep, drywall patching, touch-ups, trim repair, and maintaining clean, guest-ready finishes throughout the property.
  • Inspect fixtures, lighting, signage, and equipment; replace parts, maintain adequate supplies, and spare inventory.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely, organized manner.
  • Conduct daily property rounds, documenting issues and reporting needed repairs.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of hotel or building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Technical or trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC disciplines preferred but not required
  • Must be available to work all shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent guest service and supporting team members.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively and follow all safety standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general carpentry, with solid experience in painting, drywall repair, and cosmetic touch-ups.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
