Saulsbury Industries HR Benefits Assistant

Location: Odessa, Texas

Type: Full time – In Office / Training Center

The HR Benefits Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Benefits Team in handling and delivering employee benefit programs and services. This role assists with benefits enrollment, employee inquiries, data entry, and documentation, as well as managing shared inboxes and coordinating benefits-related communications. The Benefits Assistant helps ensure accuracy in employee records, supports compliance with company policies and regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred, along with strong communication, training and customer service skills.

Responsibilities/Competencies:

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Present Saulsbury benefits during new hire orientations/training and answer questions pertaining to company benefits in a training center environment.
  • Assist with the open enrollment process and will support multiple field locations with benefit questions.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assist office and field employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefit enrollment materials.
  • Process life status changes in the HRIS system.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personnel, disability and FMLA.
  • Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of HR experience specializing in benefits, benefits orientation/training and administration.
  • High school diploma or GED required, higher education is a plus
  • Bilingual
  • Ability to work standardized M-F 8-5pm
  • Ability to work under pressure and train new employees as well as coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook)
  • Great interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Professional with a strong personal commitment to ethical business practices
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis, without restriction.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality required.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Professional, ethical, team players willing to grow with Company.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to carry up to 15 pounds.
