Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions (SMR) is a leading supplier in equipment and tools, services and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. To our Rock Tools division and the R&D department at Patancheru, Hyderabad, we are now looking for an Engineer - Materials Lab to join us.

This job is Research and Development of Rock tools at Materials Engineering lab. The role will actively take part in R&D product development activities, Collaborate with global & local engineering projects teams. Support periodic product and process audits. The role will also co-ordinate and work together with product line function in understanding business requirements.

To be more specific, your main responsibilities to manage in this position are:

• Ensure Environment, Health and Safety standards are being practiced at the workplace specific to Materials / Metallurgical lab.
• Support EHS development activities and contribute to EHS culture development.
• Implement QEHSSA management systems in the working environment.
• Conduct research and development activities in Mining and Construction applications.
• Strong subject knowledge in materials, metallurgical methods & processes.
• Knowledge of metallurgical special processes like heat treatment, surface engineering, steel making and welding with failure analysis.
• Hands on experience in using metallography lab equipment for material characterization.
• Should be capable of concluding the results and sharing with stakeholders.
• Able to work independently on research projects.
• Ability to work with global engineering teams.
• Collaborate with global product development projects.
• Proficient communication skills to deal with internal and global functions.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Effective planning & implementation.
• Experience in Non-destructive testing of materials will be added advantage.

Metallurgical engineering graduate / postgraduate's degree with 6 years of experience from an engineering industry. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the core area. You have previously worked with strong EHS cultured organizations, and you understand the importance of a diverse workforce and collaborative settings.

Other required competencies that we find necessary are:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
