The University of Texas School of Public Health San Antonio (the School) was founded in 2022 as a collaboration between The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) and The University of Texas at San Antonio, both designated as Hispanic-Serving Institutions by the U.S. Department of Education. On September 1, 2025, both universities will merge as a single institution, which will be known as The University of Texas at San Antonio. The School provides graduate-level academic instruction in public health and is actively conducting research and community engagement activities aimed at promoting and maintaining community health.

The Department of Health Policy and Health Services Administration seeks faculty candidates with demonstrable academic skills for faculty positions. The Department welcomes faculty with various research, teaching, and service interests including health policy assessment; access to and disparities in healthcare utilization; the economics of healthcare; health insurance and healthcare financing; health services and medical care workforce research; and health systems administration, management, and leadership at federal, state, regional, and local levels. The Department's focus includes health policy, service, and organizational issues addressing current and emerging healthcare needs in South Texas, particularly among under-represented groups; infants' children's, and women's health; the needs of aging populations and individuals with acute and chronic conditions; the impacts of social determinants of health; and the "Triple Aim" of improving the health of populations, improving the patient experience, and reducing the costs of healthcare.

The Department seeks to identify successful candidates with demonstrated research portfolios, scholarly publications, and experience in community engagement, teaching courses, and leading experiential learning applicable to health policy, health services, and health care administration. Faculty will be expected to contribute formally to the academic curricula, teach graduate courses, and actively engage in forming the School through internal and external service activities. Applications for appointment at all ranks (assistant, associate, or full professor) and tracks (tenure-track, tenured, or non-tenure track) will be considered based on the candidate's professional and academic experiences. Qualifications:

• A doctorate in public health or a related field.
• Prior experience teaching at the graduate level.
• Demonstrated ability to independently conduct both practical and academic research.
• Expertise or experience related to historically under-resourced populations are desirable but not required.

Assistant Professor Job Code (External) Additional Information Benefits Overview UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits.

• Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for fulltime employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Employees and their dependents can also receive discounted copays and coinsurance when using UT Health Physicians, a network of 800 premier physicians including more than 100 specialists.
• Employees receive $50,000 of group term life insurance and $50,000 of basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance for free, with options to purchase additional employee and dependent coverage for both at group rates.

• Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
