Maintenance Engineer

As a maintenance engineer, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and execute repairs on food processing equipment. Your work will involve both mechanical and electrical repairs, including breaking down machinery for cleaning and starting it up again. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance on food processing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
• Break down and clean machinery, ensuring proper startup.
• Utilize maintenance experience to execute repairs and preventive maintenance in the plant.

Essential skills:

• 2+ years of food manufacturing maintenance experience or 7+ years in manufacturing machine maintenance.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills on 24-480v systems, with the ability to trace and resolve issues.
• Experience with pneumatics, power transmission, pulleys, chains, sprockets, drives, motors, conveyors, belts, bearings, and gears.
• Basic PLC knowledge.
• Ability to work 10-12 hour days, 7 days a week.

Additional skills & qualifications:

• Technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field is a plus.
• Food/GMP experience is highly advantageous.
• Good tenure and stability in previous roles.
• Welding and fabricating skills.

Work environment:

The facility is a refrigerated food manufacturing plant where adherence to GMPs is required daily. You will work in shifts: 1st shift (5am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (2PM-12:30AM), or 3rd shift (10PM-7:30AM), with training on the 1st shift for 1-2 weeks. The role requires flexibility, with potential long hours and working in a cold environment. Tools are provided, but you may bring personal tools if preferred.

This is a contract to hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
