FOR BACKEND ROLES: We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the 8x8 engineering team that is involved in the entire life cycle of development, from the browser to the database. You will be part of the team that owns high performance, mission critical services, from design to development, deployment and operation at scale. Get the chance to work in a microservices architecture, add new features, solve day-to-day problems and contribute to system wide technical improvements. All this in an agile run project that is continuously deployed in Kubernetes clusters hosted in AWS. Responsibilities:

• Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code
• Understand, interpret, and clarify functional requirements as well as technical requirements for product features
• Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
• Collaborate and contribute to architecture and design decisions driving product direction
• Prepare and produce releases of software components
• Support Continuous Improvement by investigating alternatives and new technologies and presenting these for architectural review

Qualifications:

• Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Strong design and architectural skills
• Proven skills and hands-on programming experience in Java, preferably leveraging Spring Framework
• Excellent development experience with Java REST web services
• Knowledge of Java concurrency/multithreading and asynchronous APIs
• Comfortable with Java internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction Management, Performance, Annotation Processing)
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
• Proficiency in Database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
• Good knowledge of Distributed Systems
• Good knowledge of NFR-s analysis and implementation
• Deliver beautiful and well tested code
• Exposure to AWS (or other Public Cloud)
• Very good understanding of design patterns and microservices
• Experience with test automation at the unit and integration levels
• Familiar with architecture, design, development, and deployment of enterprise systems
• Passionate about delivering high-quality software
• Experience working in a global environment, across multiple time zones and geographies

FOR FRONTEND ROLES: As a Senior Software Engineer you will join an experienced team of like minded individuals, adding your own distinctive style and flair to our ever expanding portfolio of modern React applications. Your primary focus will be on developing user interface components and implementing them following well-known React.js workflows (such as Redux) and using modern CSS techniques and libraries, like styled components. You will ensure that these components and the overall application are robust, responsive, and easy to maintain. Also, you will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

Responsibilities:

• Develop modern React applications built on our newly created APIs
• Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
• Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
• Optimize components for maximum performance and responsive across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
• Building clean, optimized and easily maintainable code
• Triaging issues, finding and resolving the root cause
• Support test and deployment of new products and features
• Work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale back-end services

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Javascript, ES6+ (Typescript is a plus)
• Very good knowledge of common Javascript patterns and testing frameworks
• Thorough understanding of Distributed Systems and real-time processing
• Good knowledge of REST and WebSockets
• Experience with ReactJS and Redux, ideally, or experience with AngularJS, VueJs
• Experience with HTML5, CSS (Styled Components is a plus)
• Knowledge of JWT and OAuth
• Significant experience with Webpack, NPM, Yarn, Babel and Jest
• Good knowledge of Application Security principles and practices
• Good knowledge of Distributed Systems
• Deliver beautiful and well tested code
• Real-time communications, WebRTC know-how is an advantage
• Experience contributing to open-source projects
• Passionate about delivering high-quality software
• Experience working in a global environment, across multiple time zones and geographies

The compensation range reflects the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. 8x8 has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Further, individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience, knowledge, success, education and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including discretionary merit increases, bonus and/or stock. Certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales variable compensation incentives based on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

Salary Ranges:

$112,875.00 - $251,875.00
