This is a full-time role that has a pay rate of $20.00/hour and $21.00 if Spanish bi-lingual.
The Assistant Nutritional Coordinator is responsible for supporting the coordination of nutrition and meal services for youth in a residential program. This includes culturally sensitive menu planning, food inventory management, and ensuring compliance with state regulatory and licensing guidelines. The role also involves direct engagement with youth through nutrition education and meal preparation.
Nutritional Support & Coordination
- Assist in training, tracking, and managing food storage and preparation
- Support teaching nutrition and meal preparation classes to youth
- Help manage and restock food inventory
- Collaborate with youth specialists to plan culturally appropriate menus
- Assist in meal preparation for youth
- Complete nutritional intake assessments for new youth
Performance Metrics
- Accuracy and timeliness of food inventory tracking
- Compliance with nutritional and licensing guidelines
- Youth engagement and satisfaction with meals and nutrition education
- Responsiveness to dietary needs and cultural preferences
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and in a team
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in using technology for documentation and tracking
- Spanish speaking strongly preferred
- Understanding of cultural differences and residential facility operations
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 21 years of age or older for this role
Experience
- Experience in residential or child-caring institutions preferred
- Experience in nutritional settings preferred
Knowledge Requirements
- Familiarity with residential facilities
- Awareness of cultural dietary needs
- Basic understanding of ORR processes
- Local travel around Grand Rapids using personal vehicle
